Tips for writing your Condolence
When writing a Sympathy Note be sure to include the following:
  1. Acknowledge the loss and refer to the deceased by name.
  2. Express your sympathy.
  3. Include a memory or story of the deceased.
  4. Note special qualities of the deceased or the bereaved.
  5. End with a thoughtful word or phrase.
    * Holding you in my thoughts
    * You are in my thoughts
    * You are in my prayers
    * Wishing you strength in the difficult time
  6. Write the letter in your own voice, meaning the way you would normally speak to the person.
A sympathy or condolence note can be a great source of comfort to someone who is grieving the loss of a loved one. It’s a simple way of letting that person know that they are in your thoughts as they go through the difficult process of grief and mourning.
