Faye Griggs
Faye Antonette Griggs, 53, of 204 Bridges Circle, departed this life on
Saturday, April 4, 2009, at Gaston Memorial Hospital. A daughter of the late Henry Nelson Griggs Sr. and Maude P. Griggs, she was born March 5, 1956, in Cleveland County.
Faye was an active member of New Life Christian Church. She was a graduate of Burns High School class of 1974. She had been a longtime employee of the former Doran Textiles Corp., where she played on the company's softball team and participated on the Fire Brigade. More recently, she was an employee of Copeland Corp. until succumbing to illness.
She was preceded in death by her father, Henry Nelson Griggs Sr., in 1996 and one brother, Henry Nelson Griggs Jr., in 1980.
Left to mourn her loss are her mother, Mrs. Maude P. Griggs; her son, Larry Nelson Baxter; one sister, Donna Reed Griggs, all of the home in Kings Mountain; two brothers, Moses Griggs of Kings Mountain and Mike Griggs of Charlotte; two sisters-in-law, Frances Griggs of Kings Mountain and Barbara Griggs of Charlotte; one niece, Lakisha Yvette Eskridge of Shelby; two nephews, Moses Monrail Griggs of Lawndale and Nelson Marquis Bridges of Shelby; and a huge number of relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral: Friday, April 10, 2009 at 2 p.m. at New Life Christian Center
Visitation: The family will receive friends one hour before the service on Friday.
