Mr.
Charles Edward Smith, 64, formerly of Shelby, died Sunday, May
3, 2009, at Carolinas Medical Center, University, in Charlotte.
A native of Cleveland County, he was born March 12, 1945, to the
late John and Mary Frances Shuford Smith. "Jeek," as he was
affectionately known, will be remembered for being a very
friendly, outgoing and care free person who also enjoyed playing
golf.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two
aunts, Shirley Shuford Mauney and Mildred Shuford Wansley.
He leaves to mourn a daughter, Bridgette Wilson of Shelby; three
sisters, Marilyn Smith of Atlanta, Ga., Patricia "Tuffy" Davis
and Brenda Kay Boyce (Jerry), both of Shelby; three uncles,
Harold Shuford of Charlotte, A.B. Shuford (Georgia) and Paul
Shuford, both of Shelby; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins
and friends.
Funeral: Wednesday, May 6, 1 p.m., S.T. Enloe Memorial Chapel
Visitation: The family will receive friends 30 minutes before
the service, at the chapel and other times at the home of his
daughter, Bridgette Wilson, 926 Kerney Drive, Shelby.
Burial: Sunset Cemetery
