William Poston
Mr.
William Poston, 68, of 200 Seattle Street, Shelby, NC departed this life on
Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at Gaston Memorial Hospital in Gastonia, NC.
He was born August 3, 1941 in Shelby to the late Lucille Hines and Bill
Weaver.
He attended Cleveland High School in Shelby and Armstrong Vocational High School
in Washington, DC. He retired from
Gallaudet University as a bus
driver.
He was formerly a member of Solid Rock Full Gospel Baptist Church and Mt.
Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Temple Hills, Md.
Upon moving to NC, he joined Long Branch First Baptist Church and served
there as a deacon, men's choir member and Cleveland County Choral Union until
his health failed.
In addition to his parents, he preceded in death by his sister, Bernice Card and
a brother Bobby Card.
He is survived by his wife Lorraine Linder Poston; his daughter, Britannia
Poston-Taylor (Tyrone) of Fort Washington, MD; a son William Gerald Poston
(Kirsten) of Columbia, Md; one brother, Jerry Card (Virginia) of Greensboro, NC;
nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild and a host of other relatives and
friends.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Temple Hills, MD. with Rev. Larry P. McCray officiating. Burial will take place at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Suitland, Md. Mr. Poston will be available for view on Saturday, May 23, 2009 at S.T. Enloe Memorial Chapel from 12:00 Noon until 7:00 PM.
